In today’s world of multi trillion dollar debt and budgets requiring major cuts, using older weapons on new weapons platforms may be an option the military must pursue. This is quite the option, especially if a shotgun was mounted under the other wing. Of course the backseater would then have 4 strings to pull.
Reminds me of when the Royal Flying Corps in WW1 used to drop house bricks and used shotguns to shoot down the enemy.
