Ah yes, the “everybody ribbon.” You get to put that on as soon as you get out of Basic Training or Boot Camp. The correct name is the National Defense Service ribbon which is given to anyone who enlists during a time of war. There are several other “everybody” ribbons (i.e. Good Conduct) which you get because you didn’t do anything wrong! The ribbons or fruit salad, as they used to say back in the day, usually tell a tale of what and where a person has been or done.
One ribbon or a dozen … makes no difference. You served, period end of story. Doesn’t matter whether you joined or were drafted, you did your duty. Thank you. There will always be chumps who make fun of someone but don’t worry about it.
Now get out there and have a safe and happy weekend! Thanks for visiting and come back again.
I always thought you got the good conduct not because you didn’t do anything wrong but because you didn’t get caught.
They’re the same thing, one is just the politically correct way of saying it!! 🙂
